Maiden Special Weight Seven furlongs Firm Turf $100,000 Fillies and mares, 2 years old
Sunny Florida a major maiden purse off 100 grand up for grabs and the NAR's finest trainers send there best shots at it.
1)GLORY GOLD This first time starter is on the rail not the best place to be first time out. capotecat9 is a solid trainer winning at a 14%. This filly is by Fast Gold this lightly used sire has had 6 winners out off his last 16 horses and his most accomplished offspring WEAR THE FOX HAT loves the grass. Still this is a tough spot but not impossible at 19/1 maybe worth a look
2)CAPTAIN ULYSSES Well what can you say about this odds on favorite besides she is an absolute monster. MINESHAFT x KINGMAMBO x STORM CAT is the pedigree off royalty and maybe a champion filly for are Equinics next February gets her debut right here against us all. I know its her first time and her breeding might suggest her liking the dirt more than the grass, but if she performs anyway near her potential I for one will stand up an applaud our hopeful future star. Nice job Jimch9 and good luck
3)LUCKY'S TOFFIFAY The boss sends out his British filly for her first start out off pp3. Do not know to much about this freshman Sire as she only has 4 other horses in the sim. If your a long shot player than you have to love 29/1 on a relative unknown first timer. His best offspring FIRST OF OH FIVE(GB) has a win and looks to be getting better maybe the boss has got something here
4)RENDEZVOUS Another first timer sent out by mollydoer. This Filly is training like a champ enough so to grab very good jockey J Crozier. Her sire is With Approval a very good and mostly under rated sire, who's offspring absolutely love the grass. One example off greatest is GIDDYUP DIDDIE a grade 1 Turf champion, there are more. This filly is very dangerous here and worth a long look at 14/1
5)CRESCENT PARK(AUS) at 99/1 not given much off a chance. she would have to improve greatly to get a piece off this group but I have seen it happen before. Her barley beaten 3rd last time out was her best effort yet and has been better since her jump to the grass. A solid claim for sure but in a little over her head with this group
6)FLYING FISH COVE Another first timer that demands respect Bjbandit is a top trainer winning at almost 14% and knows a thing or two about breeding 2 yr olds CAIRNS CUTIE(IRE),NEW VENN our both nice looking youngsters who came out off his barn. This filly's breeding: Champion Mare SINGLE KELLY Who was a turf specialist in her day crossed with Dayjur as her sire could run the upset here at 10/1 would not be a big surprise. Top Jock Gardner gets the mount
7)PERFECT CLEARANCE Here is another interesting filly. She is by Cryptoclearance out off stakes winning Mare PERFECT ASSEMBLY. Debut was in NY on the dirt a very tough task and she did well running a 66 speed but it was a strong field that day led by JOKES ON BBOR(IRE) who ran a 80, next step was a good one stepping down a bit to Maine track Filly improve running nice 69 finishing within 31/2 off leader. Now she will try the grass if she takes to the turf and improves then she could very well win this race, that's for you to decide I think her pedigree suggest dirt 12/1
8)LIL SPORTY All I can say about this filly is heart, she seems to give it all she has every time out. Lil's Lad's Offspring have had a tough time this year 0/8 but in previous two years 20/28 off his offspring were winners including GLAD LAD who is probably his best. Maybe the change to turf will be a good thing for a filly that you know will give it her best 25/1
9)TEDDY'S PRINCESS (PALACE MUSIC x END SWEEP x KNOWN FACT) Making her fourth start and first on the grass is a filly who has improved mightily since her first start which was hampered by a minor injury. Top Jock Barrett likes her chances to "show her stuff" He points to three year old CRIMSONITE when asks about her chances on the grass enough said real shot here at 10/1
10) MESA POINT I got some inside information on this filly, she was a last minute choice for this race by a trainer that had to get in this race. Sky Mesa is not sharp and is feeling homesick as she has only raced in RI and for only one jock L. Epcot. Good news she is always close and maybe the change off location and jock will do here good Here a stat for you in five races she has been beaten 5 1/4 lengths total including her last out beaten by a nose. 10/1
11) NEARLY NOWT First timer from redforgo1 stable gets an outside post so hope she doesn't need the lead (HUSSONET x TEJANO x DANZERO (AUS)) Hussonet is a lightly used sire son off Mr. Prospector who has had 22 out off 48 off his horses make it to the winners circle, mostly on the dirt however. Odds maker puts her at 15/1 maybe Redforgo1 has caught Lightning in a bottle here.
12) SCOTIAN ERICA 11/1 on the filly with the fastest speed rating in the race seems a little crazy don't you think? well it all depends on how you think she will handle the grass SCOTIAN DANCER her older sister did very well on the turf so that is good enough proof for me Dangerous very Dangerous shot going for dougiec2
13)RIGHT GEEZER(IRE) Gets the far outside post. 14/1 interesting to say the least. I point to her debut race if you think she was not ready for racing yet then she's got a real good chance here, If you think she didn't handle the Turf than you have to toss her here. What do I think? I think she will handle the grass and she just wasn't ready to race yet woodstabl3 has a live long shot here.
OK now that is my review if you read it carefully you will see I think it is a wide open race, and I really look forward to seeing it all pan out on Saturday Good Luck to all.

Excellent review, thanks for your writing talents. I for one hope that my Teddy's Princess enjoys the turf in her continued improvement from her troubled debut career race. Good Luck everyone in the race Teddy

Nice review for our race of the month! Someone oughta put you on the payroll.
Oddmakers give the nod to Captain Ulysses due to the ridiculous amount of BPs spent. jimch9 had been hoarding BPs for quite awhile. (up to now they have only made the occassional Sat night credit specials) Just happened to splurge and just happened to drop a female in time for the NAR. Otherwise I would have had to ship in a proven loser like I usually do for these.
jimch9 just now spend another load for 750BP horse. Seeking the Gold x Northern Dancer x Naskra. Another experiment.
Jim
