We will be holding our first residency contest starting 2461. It will run for 10 weeks and it will be run like this.
Only Saturday races will count...only races that are run in the American Division EXCEPT for Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Argentina
Each stable will accumulate points...
1st=10 points 2nd=5 points 3rd=3 points
A resident can't win more than 1 prize, so if the 1st and 2nd place team is by the same resident, then the 3rd place team will get 2nd place and so on....I'm doing this to spread the wealth and I really think that's fair.
For the prizes, since we aren't big enough to get credits yet, these will be the prizes.
1st = 500 credits 2nd = 300 credits 3rd = 100 credits
I'm donating these credits to help promote this competition. If you don't think this is fair, please let me know....changes can be made before the start of the competion.
I will be making a table updated after the races on either Saturday's or Sunday's to show the leaderboards.
My personal stables under MrLucky will count towards this competition but the resident stables will not.
Thanks and good luck.

That sounds great and I'm sure you will get those credits very soon. I have clicked on support with a few of my stables. I do also support Delpenn so I'm trying to be fair to both..

To tell you the truth I think it's kind of high. Too much. That's about what the prizes in a 6 month contest are.

I looked for Delpenn and couldn't find it. I would rather be a little high than low. Like I said, I want people to join this residency and maybe people will see this and come take a look and possibly join. Thanks for the input.

Ihave no problems with the contest but like sal I think the prizes are on the high side, but you could be right and the size of the prizes may attractsome more stables. I am going to be away across to the east coast of Australia at the end of April for a couple of weeks for an Army reunion so probably won't figure in any of the prizes but if I was lucky enough to win any thing I would like to pass it onto another player or it could go back into the residency I will leave it up to you ;D

OK....well, this is still up in the air for everything and I still have a week to change things up. What do you think the prize amounts should be and should I just use all the tracks of America or just some of them?
I'm just trying to make everyone happy is all.

You have to do what you think is right. I think you should include all tracks listed under Americas Division. That way Puerto Rico,Jamaica,and Argentina are included. Whatever you choose will be find with me.

I agree with Sal about the tracks to include, but its up to you!
As far as prizes, I think 500 / 300 / 150 is more then fair for a 3 month contest. (I think MN does 600/400/200 for a 13 week contest).
I do like running the contest quarterly, because it keeps more people in the running. One residenncy I'm in does it yearly, so all but those at the top can lose interest as the year goes on.

I think the prize structure of the contest should bring in some new members. I also agree that all the tracks in the americas zone be included--keeps it simple that way. Good luck to everybody in the opening contest in this residency. teddy

Basicly, you run your horses on the above tracks and if you get 1st, 2nd or 3rd, you accumulate points. Each stable accumulates points. If your stable is in the top 3 at the end of the contest, YOU WIN!!

Here's a thought I had for keeping the residency handicapping contest competitive as we move forward...
After this first contest is run, break it into divisions (3 or 4? not sure how many, but based on the number of stables we have entered into the residency).
Take the top X number of stables as the "premier" group The next X number of stables as the 2nd tier The next X number of stables as the 3rd tier And the rest as the bottom group. (i.e. if it was baseball it'd be Pro's, AAA, AA, A)
Run the contest quarterly and move the top 5 up into the next group at the end of each contest, and demote the bottom 5 into the group below them. (or whatever number you deem reasonable for promotion/demotion)
Any new stables that come in, enter into the bottom tier and attempt to work their way up.
This keeps the level of competition tight and gives a real sense of accomplishment as you improve your stable and move up the ranks. You could adjust the size of the prizes accordingly and spread them out between the various tiers.
Just a thought for the future. ;D
