How does the Sim treat inbreeding? I know all thoroughbreds are inbred to some degree, but will inbreeding adversely effect performance in the game? If you have enough BP's can you breed Storm Cat x Storm Cat x Storm Cat, or Cat Thief x Tobasco Cat X Storm Cat and have the same expectations as if you had a "well bred" horse?

I have never tried it but I also wouldn't want to spend those BP's trying to find out....that's about 1100 BP's down the drain if it doesn't work.

I've put together a couple breedings using 3 sons of storm cat, but all were cheaper sires. Had a pretty good one and a couple duds. You see good inbreds in the SIM from time to time, but not usually so closely inbred. I've actually had better success with complete outcrosses.

Inbreeding actually works pretty well in the sim, to a degree. I wouldn't advocate it to the degree you mentioned in the post but plenty of good horses are inbred on the second and third line. Mike has actually mentioned a couple of times that he does not penalise inbreeding because it has never really been proved in real racing that it doesnt produce good horses, it is just a practice that is avoided because of the inherint risks. I have numerous horses that are inbred and are quality horses, but I would never go Storm Cat X Tobasco Cat X Cat Thief. There is a point in the game where it will say that it is too inbred.
