ok i want a little help
ok i have a horse i have planned for 14 weeks to run in a grade2 race now im having second thoughts cause its for 3years and up and my filly is 3years old you think i should run her against older females let me know

I think you already know my thoughts cause we spoke the other night mate but I think if the 3yo's are good enough this is a good time of year to step up to open company. If she is not a strong graded filly it may be best to try an open stakes against the older mares first to test the water but if she is already winning at graded level I would not hesitate.

I have had some success running against older horses with some of my 3yr olds. I have found that as long as they can run in the high 90's or higher during the later part of the year... after August 1st... they have a shot doing well against the older horses. Of course, it depends on the horse and it's built in preferences/stats. Some are just not meant to run in higher class races and some never make the jump upward with maturity. Thats a pretty good performance mate. Just about the quickest time she has posted so you cant be too unhappy with that. She certainly didn't shirk her work and was up to the grade. Good luck with her Mark and I hope there are a few more wins in store for her. Brendan
