It has been brought up that I shouldn't limit the tracks nor should I have this many stables involved in a trainer contest. I don't want to limit the amount of stables an individual can have and compete in this residency. I firmly believe, the more stables that you have here, the better chance of winning credits. With this said, can you give me some ideas for the next trainer contest? Should I have a ranking system and if so, how would I divide the credits up? What other ideas does everyone have? Thanks for the advice.

I am not aware of any residency that limits the amount of stables that can participate in the trainers contest, unless they limit the amount of stables in the residency, like Great Plains. They limit the amount of stables that you can have there to 2. All of the other res that I've been involved with have no limits. Does not seem to make sense to limit stables, you'll decrease the credits coming in from Mike. As far as limiting the tracks, I like the idea of a set of Home tracks, as I posted in the other thread. One thing you could do would be to group everyones stables together, and make the trainers contest based on points earned per start. Not sure if this would make it easier or harder to track, but just an idea! Another would be to take the top half nd bottom half of this contest & have 2 divisions for the next one. Stables would move up or down depending on there finish.

Great Plains limits it to two stables for a reason: they have a year long trainer contest. Obviously, if one person has ten stables, and another only has one, over a year the one with ten will outperform the one.
NWRC also has a limit of nine that you can bring in...
I've already talked to MrLucky on this, and I think that even though it might not be totally fair to group them together, that's what we should do...look at the trainer contest. It's almost over. Tpacer has the first two spots. That means he would get first prize and second prize, and to me that's not really fair...he's earned it but if we grouped stables together he'd only get one prize. Also, if he moves up on Jim's stables this week he could take the whole thing. That's one thing I don't like...so what I'm saying I guess is that we either need to group them together or make divisions, but I hate divisions, NWRC does that, and that bugs me, I like competing against everybody for some reason, but it needs to be a reasonable amount otherwise most people will never get a prize. I bet we're getting close to 50 stables on the trainer list. That's great that we have 50 stables supporting the residency, but that means that 92% of the stables here won't get jack when the prizes are handed out.
Bottom line: We're still getting more stables joining, we will for awhile since we're still new, and we need to do something.

I also don't like divisions am in one of those and nowadays don't even check the figures. I don't have the answer maybe we could have residents group their stables in lots of 2, or 3 or4 something like that so at least as far as the number of stabled residents have it could at least even the field. There is no way you want to limit the number of stables the more we get the better off we are.

Well, even though Tpacer has 1st and 2nd wrapped up, I stated in the rules that only 1 resident winner can win. So, the 3rd and 4th place people will win the credits.
I think the more stables you have, the better odds u have of winning, not neccessarily by winning more credits, just better chances.
Keep the ideas coming...I'm listening.

The current structure is fine. Give it a chance. Just have your contest like 12 or 13 weeks for a bit until we can figure things out. I do think that the current format is very fair and even though Tpacer is running 1-2 he still like Mr. Lucky stated is only eligible for 1 prize. I say stick with it and may the best stable win.

I posted in the other thread about tiering the points given. Earning more points for home tracks but not disqualifying any tracks like we did in the first contest. Maybe we should have a members vote to vote in which will be our so called "home" tracks and try the different point idea. It works well in the Minny rez although they only have one home track. As for stables I think we should encourage as many stables as possible so that we can qualify for more credits every week. As for divisions, we should probably stay away from that for now especially since we don't have that many stables at the moment as the other rez mentioned has hundreds of stables and actually divides them into 5 divisions.
