would rather have the horse BUT....I can buy a lot of maidens for that price so I guess that's ok. I have like 10 4 year olds that I have to breed and I guess I can look at it like this, saves me some BP's. LOL

Really bad luck mate I did it years ago with a good mare put her in a claimers by mistake was very lucky and managed to get her back. You still will be able to breed to her under the games rules so that may help you plus the money will help stabalise the pain. She got out of my price range as well.

Do you get a tax penalty when the price goes so high and if so how much do they ding you out of that auction price?

Tax is whatever to keep you at 5 mil, I think I remember that. So if the filly sold for say 6 million, I think lucky only gets 5 million, but he also keeps whatever he had before so he'll probably have like 5.5 million.
