For donating credits to the residency. It's greatly appreciated and will be used for prizes.
I think that I'm going to start this. Since so many of you have been very very generous with this residency with all the weekly contests, I'm going to let the people that donate to the residency pick the contest. YES, the residency will also throw in credits to the prizes.
Roddicks contest consists of a NAR Triple Crown. I don't know exactly how to run this so I'll let Roddick come up with the details and all.
Thanks again for everyone's support!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

It's not going to be that hard to run it, coming up with the credits is another story. You would be looking at buying 3 G1 pass protected races. So this might not be the right time to do this, I'm not sure on the residency's credit status at this point.
What you would do is pick one week. Say you wanted to run the first leg on 2552. Buy a G1 race in Kentucky at 1 1/4 miles on the dirt. That's our NAR Derby. Residents post their horses, distribute the passwords, they enter. The Derby is run. Now, when you buy the Derby, on 2566 you would buy a G1 race in Maryland at 1 3/16 miles on the dirt. That's our Preakness. If the week would be available, buy a G1 race at 1 1/2 miles on the dirt in New York for 2587. That's our Belmont. Same thing as the Derby: nominations, passwords distributed, race run.
Now, what I was thinking about the other day though was that if we don't have enough credits now, we should save up for the rest of the year and run our races at the same time as the real Triple Crown next year. This would A) give our residency some publicity and B) also allow our trainers to race their three year olds when they would normally be at their peak anyways. The only problem with that is obviously if one of our trainers has an actual Derby horse, they wouldn't be able to run in ours. But there's a lot of options with this, because you can run it anytime in a six week period. You need the credits, however, and I think that's going to be our main problem. You're probably looking at about 3000 to 4000 credits total to buy all the races. I'm not sure.
More input welcome.

I like the idea--but personally would need some time to develop a horse who would be capable of this series of races. Your are looking at about 1700 credits per race for a Grade I stake as when I buy the invitational races for the rez they are 1200-1400 credits in cost. While the idea is good maybe we should think about trying this next spring to coincide with the sim triple crown as by then we may have the needed credits to run the series and it gives time for the members to develop a horse who could be competitive in it. Yeah the more I think about it the more it makes sense to run it next year.

But does it need to be grade races? Just plain Allownaces could work. ts1442

They could, and if you bid allowances it would be cheaper. Depends on whether you want them to count as stakes races or not.

I like the idea, for next year. I ran a series like that years ago I called it the nit derby, It went off very well and I wanted to do it every year but personal problems prevented me from spending the amount off time needed to do it. A resident here won the nit TC that year with a horse called Horn Knee Sal. It would strike up interest in our residency cause there are so many good three year olds that don't get to run TC races and this could be a nice plug for us. The Nit Derby got awesome coverage, and I kick myself for having abandon that series.
